When he is not facing the camera Kunal Kapoor is busy writing his first-ever script. The actor, who is known to maintain a diary to scribble his thoughts, started penning a romantic comedy in collaboration with a friend last year. With the final draft ready, he has mentor Rakeysh Mehra volunteering to make the film at the end of this year.
Talking about his pet project Kunal says, “I have spoken to Rakeysh about the concept. He has agreed to produce the film.” Needless to say, the actor will feature in the film. “I’m one of the selfish actors who wants to be a part of the cast,” he adds.
The plot revolves around gender roles and love problems that youngsters face. The actor informs that his personal experiences have helped him immensely. “The film encapsulates what most young people go through. I have relied on my personal experiences and also, the discussions I had with my friends. But in the plot it plays out differently,” he says. Read the rest of this entry »

Working with Aamir Khan is no mean feat. And if it’s a newcomer, well then they need to have real fire in their belly to match up to AK’s sky-high standards. Even long after they’ve worked with him, some of that AK effect remains with them. Like AK’s perfectionist attitude that’s rubbed off really strong on the young Kunal Kapoor.
He’s known to do his homework to the T, before he begins shooting for any role, but strangely for forthcoming Hatrick, he skipped all the research and homework and cat-walked through the film. The actor doesn’t deny this either. “I play a Punjabi character in Hatrick,†he informs, “So the only preparation that went into it was getting the accent right and learning some new bad words.
When you speak in Punjabi the general tendency is to give bad words. So there have been times when while I was delivering the dialogue, I got so aggressive that I said one or two extra bad words which weren’t in the script. Read the rest of this entry »
